Grove Vale Primary School was formed by the amalgamation of junior and infant children in September 1985 and is a co-educational, Primary day school for pupils aged 4-11 years. The school is non-denominational. Since 2010, we have extended our school to encompass a pre-school with an extra 48 places for 3 and 4 year olds.

The background of our school means that some facilities, such as our two halls and Swimming pool are rather special. We have 14 classrooms and a Mobile classroom. Not all of our rooms are permanently used by classes; therefore we have set some aside for special purposes. These purposes include a Library, an ICT suite and a mobile for extra resources and support groups. The school grounds are substantial with 3 playgrounds, a sports field and a woodland outdoor teaching area.

The school is situated on Monksfield Avenue, Great Barr. the buildings were erected in 1961 on a newly developed housing estate. The architect chose to build the school into a hillside. Because of the contours there are many steps around school as classrooms are built on different levels. The classrooms are mostly built in pairs, with toilet facilities for the children shared between 2 classes.

The Governing body operates the Local Authority admissions policy. Grove Vale Primary currently has 60 places in each year group. Admission forms are assessed by the L.A to determine whether a child is eligible for a place.

Grove Vale Primary school is federated with Holy Trinity C of E Primary School.
