Children had a great nights sleep, and after rewarding the best beds, children got ready and went downstairs to have breakfast. They enjoyed cereal, toast and a chocolate brioche.

We had to jiggle things around this morning due to the rainy weather, instead of having playtime children finished the film they began watching last night in the TV room.

In the morning, we split into two groups again. Group 1 did Fencing which was fabulous. Children learnt all about the origins of Fencing and how it is an Olympic sport. Did you know, modern fencing originated in the 18th century in the Italian school of fencing of the Renaissance and was then improved by the French school. The children were kitted up with masks, body armour and a sword! ... a foam sword of course. They practised the en guarde position which fencers use to stay stable, and then practiced forwards and backwards movements. Children then were taught how to 'lunge' forward and attack. As well as this, children learnt the perry and repost tactic of defending, using their sword to deflect their opponent. Finally, children got to apply all the skills they had learnt by having a duel with their opponent where they were scored on their form and use of the taught techniques. The children had a superb time as well as lots of fun! Afterwards, team work skills were further developed where children had a range of team challenges to complete that relied on listening, communication, team strategy and resilience.

Before we knew it, lunch time arrived and the children had a special surprise... Mrs Connop and Mrs Overthrow arrived to have lunch with us, the children gave them a tour of the grounds, filled her in with all the fun activities we had been up to and even joined us to meet and feed the animals. The children were so excited to see Mrs Connop, and our wonderful headteacher was so proud of us and everything we had achieved so far, she was particularly impressed with the resilience and ambition everyone has shown.

During the afternoon, we expanded our map reading skills as well as the 4 points of a compass and did orienteering in pairs. While it was a challenge, children persevered and used the number clues to find the corresponding letters.

After a delicious dinner, which was vegetable curry with rice and naan, we had chocolate cake with chocolate custard!!! We had some outdoor time, visited the Edgmond Hall gift shop to buy some souvenirs and then had supper which consisted of a biscuit and hot chocolate.

Children are now all tucked up in bed ready for our last full day and night tomorrow.
