On Tuesday 21st October, our school councillors set off at 5.45am for their journey to London, they had a busy and exciting day ahead! We were visiting the houses of Parliament.
When we arrived, the children had a tour of the house of Lords and got so see lots of important meeting rooms, as well as the King’s robing room that is used when he visits Parliament once a year. The interior of the building was magnificent.
We also met our local MP, Sarah Coombes. She talked about her roles, how she looks after our local community and listens to our voices before discussing our points during important meetings at Parliament. She said she has met both, King Charles III and Kier Starmer!
After our time inside Parliament, we around to see Big Ben, the river Thames and the London Eye. We stood at Westminster bridge to take in the sights around us, we then headed to see 10 Downing street. After our busy day in the capital, we ate lunch overlooking the houses of Parliament before our journey back to school.
