Grove Vale Nursery – Chargeable extras

Government guidance requires nurseries offering funded places to clearly break down any charges for consumables and additional services or enhanced provision. Please see below.

Snacks

We are pleased to inform you that from the 1st April 2026, Little Valer’s will no longer be charging for snack money. Snacks will now be fully funded by the school, and every child will have the option each day to choose either a fruit or vegetable snack.

You will also have the option for your child to bring a healthy snack to school. To support healthy eating habits, we have also included a list of alternative healthy, nut‑free snack ideas that you may wish to provide from home.

Nursery Children eligible for 30 hours funding - Update!

The Department for Education’s updated statutory guidance states that the funded 15 and 30 hours must be free at the point of use. Recent clarification, starting from 1st April 2026, makes clear that schools must not require parents to pay for lunchtime cover as a condition of accessing their funded hours. Guidance states that any charges must only relate to genuinely optional extras such as paid meals, nappies or additional activities.

Consequently, we must make changes to our Nursery provision. From Monday 13th April 2026, funded nursery hours will be as follows:

15 hours 08:30-11:30 or 12:30-15:30 Monday to Friday

30 hours 08:30-14:30 Monday to Friday

For those parents and carers unable to collect at 14:30, we will be offering 1 hour of wraparound care from 14:30 – 15:30pm. This will be chargeable and a cost of £5.00 per day. This will need to be paid in advance. Children collected late (after 14:30) will be added to wraparound and parents will be charged for this session. If staying for the additional wraparound hour, there will be no difference to children’s hours. If there is not sufficient uptake in wraparound, we would need to reconsider whether this is a viable option. You must wholly opt in or opt out of this extended care.

Lunch Arrangements

Children attending the 30‑hour provision must bring a daily lunch:

A packed lunch from home

A paid pre‑ordered school meal from our caterers, Dolce.

Little Valer's Before and After School Club

Our Grove Vale Before and After School Club provides high quality out of school childcare for the children of Little Valers in the form of Breakfast and After School Club. It provides a range of stimulating and creative activities in a safe environment. Our aim is to maintain our clubs, where everyone is made welcome and valued. We are fully committed to working in partnership with parents/carers to provide high quality, safe and stimulating care, and learning and play opportunities for children.

Breakfast Club

Our Breakfast Club operates from 7:30am until 8:30am term time only. Our session fees are £6.50 per child per session. This is to be booked and paid using Arbor and must be paid in advance.

Organisation of Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club opens at 7:30am. When you arrive via the main entrance, please press the doorbell and a member of staff will greet you. We require you to sign your child into breakfast club. At the end of the session, your child will kept in pre school to start their day.

We provide your child with a healthy and varied breakfast

After School Club

Our After School Club operates 2 sessions from 3:30pm until 5:00pm, £8.50 and 3:30pm until 6:00pm, £10.00 term time only. This is to be booked and paid using Arbor and must be paid in advance.

Organisation of After School Club

At the end of the Pre School day any Pre School children will remain in the Little Valers classroom and be registered. The children will then be provided with various activities for them to take part in.

During the after school club session Little Valers will have the opportunity to have a snack and a drink, they will get the choice of

Sandwich of either cheese, jam, sliced ham or chicken, or toast.

Fresh fruit (raisins on occasions)
water/ milk (on occasions)

After school club closes at 6:00pm and children must be collected before then. There is no facility for an extension to this time.
